Information:
IHC produced vertical engines from 1905 through 1917. The manufacturing of the vertical engine, although an assembly line process, still allowed some individuality when painting the engine. Flywheels were painted greenish-blue, red, or black. Some engines came with decorative pinstriping. These engines, although manufactured for a short time, played an important role in the modernization of rural living and contributed to industrial productivity.

IHC introduced its first vertical engine in 1905. Available in 2,3,5
and later 6 horsepower, it was sold under a variety of trademarks -
notably the "famous" and "Titan". These two vertical engines were
identical with completely interchangeable parts. Other versions included
the "Victor" and the "Nonpareil". Vertical engines were used to power
feed grinders, pump jacks, cream separator, wood saws, lathe, and many
other machines.
